Caregiver stress and burnout

 

What are the signs that a family caregiver is in burnout?
  • Loss of interest in personal activities;
  • Increased anxiety;
  • Sadness, irritability or feeling hopeless;
  • Indifference;
  • “Discharging” the person in care even though they know it is not their fault;
  • To neglect one’s own health or to become frequently ill;
  • Social isolation;
  • Poor family functioning;
  • Poor or irregular sleep patterns;
  • Fatigue or lack of energy;
  • Feeling victimized.
